Bolton Library, Museum and Art Gallery
Occupying a beautiful period building as part of the Le Mans Crescent civic centre, the Bolton Library, Museum and Art Gallery is a storehouse of local, national and world history, art, writing and creativity. Artwork on display includes the Bolton Lives Gallery, while a recently renovated Egyptology section is the centrepiece of the museum, offering a spectacular insight into ancient civilisation. Open since 1941, the aquarium is the only one of its kind in Greater Manchester. It has stunning displays of freshwater fish from all over the world.
As well as an impressive selection of books housed in a striking interior, the Library also boasts a large theatre space, which is frequently the setting for literary talks and performances, from local and national writers and public speakers. With something for everyone and new events and exhibitions occurring on a weekly basis, you can find out more about Bolton Library and Museum Services here.
